How To Prepare For Your Next Presentation

Sep 01, 2015 by Steve Rick in  Event Tips

Practice. Practice. Practice. We’ve all heard that practice makes perfect, right? Well, the more you prepare for anything in life, the more comfortable you will feel – and the same goes for your next presentation. Public speaking can be a daunting task for some us, so here are a few tips to make your next presentation fly:

Write It Down

Yes, reading from a script or a piece of paper can make for a very poor presentation, but it’s still a good idea to have it with you. Not only will writing down your speech help you to memorize it, if you happen to lose your place or dry up you can refer to it quickly to get you back on track.

Start Preparing Early

You should begin prepping as soon as you find out you have a presentation coming up. Don’t leave it until the last minute because you are bound to forget something. Give yourself a realistic amount of time to prepare, you’ll be glad you did.

Set Up The Room In Advance

Have projectors to set up? Screens to display? Speakers to test? Give yourself plenty of time to set up the room. It’s also a good idea to get familiar with the room and go over your slides as if there was an audience sitting in front of you.

How To Make A Business Presentation Stand Out

May 15, 2015

If you’re not the artistic type, coming up with visual aids for your business presentation can be a nightmare. But there’s a wide range of “good” visuals, from simple posters to complex videos, that can help make your presentation stand out. After all, nobody wants to sit there and hear you speak for hours with nothing to else to look at, right?

A simple speech is a great way to deliver a message, but it won’t necessary make it stand out. Presenting information with visuals can enhance any presentation and help to keep the audience’s attention. Some of the most effective ways to incorporate visual aids include PowerPoints, flip charts and posters.

With hundreds of offerings including font, audio and images this is a great way to put together some visuals in an organized manner. There are however, a few things you should remember when creating a PowerPoint:

  • Just because there are hundreds of fonts, doesn’t mean you should use them all. Throwing in too many whacky ones can throw off the audience, so keep it consistent.
  • Choose font colors and backgrounds carefully. Colors like red and green can be difficult to see.
  • Don’t put too much information on the slides. Highlight 5 points at maximum and elaborate on them.

Flip Charts

Having a meeting that involves brainstorming ideas? Flip charts are the perfect way to organize your co-workers’ thoughts. Make sure to use a dark marker and write big enough so somebody thats 8 feet away will have no problem reading your notes.

Believe it or not, something as simple as a poster can help the audience remember a key point. You can keep it simple by adding a few graphics and some text or go all out and have it professionally printed and laminated. Just stay away from posters that are too busy and stick with something that catches the eye.

How To Host A Successful Corporate Event

Jun 04, 2015

A poorly run event can lead to nothing but an expensive cocktail party where interaction is non-existent. Although online communication has taken over the world, face-to-face conversations can still have immeasurable value. So what’s the trick to hosting a successful corporate event?

The first trick is to identify the reason behind your event. Whether it’s to pitch a new product to potential clients, share what’s going on inside the company or something as simple as growing your network you must have a clear objective. As you begin planning the event and brainstorming your goal keep this question in mind, “why are we hosting this event.” It will help you stay on track and maintain a clear focus.

Once you have your objective in mind you can begin thinking about who you want to invite and how to create a buzz. To do this, you need to give them a reason to show up. This can be accomplished by choosing a venue that people are eager to check out, or the special features that will be incorporated. That’s where we come in!
