What is Webcasting?

Aug 14, 2015 by Steve Rick in  Live Events

How can you get Jim in Dallas all of the information he needs from a business meeting even though he’s hundreds of miles away? The days of sending large files recapping the meeting are over. Now, Jim can sit in on the meeting in real time even though he’s not physically in the building. How? Live webcasts.

What is Webcasting?

A webcast means that you are taking media (whether it’s a corporate meeting or any other live event) and broadcasting it in real time over the internet. The process involves streaming which sends the information to computers or other electronic devices without having to save and send the files later on.

How Does it Work?

Put into simple terms, audio or visual content can be transferred to a streaming software from a video camera or speaker. The content is then encoded and sent to a special server where it is delivered. This is how Jim in Dallas can log on to his computer and have access to the meeting as it takes place.

With webcasting services from CitiView Audio Visual, your employees will never have to miss a meeting again. We offer multi-camera switching, picture-in-picture and content delivery so you can captivate your audience whether they are down the street or across the sea. How To Choose A Projection Screen

Jul 02, 2015

Size. Aspect ratio. Material. There’s a lot more to a projection screen than you may have thought and they can be the most vital part of a visual presentation. With so many options to choose from it can make your decision seem nearly impossible, but if you stick to these basic guidelines you’ll be able to put on a crystal clear display for your audience.

Consider The Size

Before you go ahead and rent a projection screen for your event, you need to consider the size of the room it’s going to be in and how many people will be focusing their eyes on the screen. Projectors create a limited amount of light and as you increase the image size, you decrease the overall brightness. At CitiView, we are stocked with projection screens ranging from 5ft. to 20ft. wide so we can accommodate just about any size room.

Width of the Screen vs. Height

Another important piece of the puzzle is the aspect ratio, or the proportions between the width of the screen and its height. Most projectors come equipped with a 16×9 display meaning a 16-foot-wide screen should be 9 feet tall. However, your screen doesn’t have to be 16×9 just because the projector is. There are plenty of ways you can adjust the projector to fill the screen.

All projection screens are made from the same material, right? Wrong. Most basic screens are made from a smooth, vinyl material but there are also perforated and woven screens available. It’s a good idea to speak with the venue to find out what kind of lighting is used in the room because this will affect how the images show up on the screen’s material.
