Oct 08, 2015 by Steve Rick in  Live Events

Will you be able to catch the world’s first throwable microphone? There might not be a better way to keep your audience engaged and alert than by literally tossing them the mic. Find out how you can take your events to the next level with the Catchbox.

What do you do when you’re on stage with the microphone and a member of the audience, in the way back, has a question? Chances are you’d have to wiggle your way through the crowd to hand them the mic and stand there waiting for a response. This whole process takes up valuable time and energy and makes your event boring.

While presenters searched for a solution for a number of years, Catchbox has delivered! Now, when somebody has a question you simply throw them the Catchbox – the world’s first soft throwable microphone for audiences. It’s not only faster, it makes your event more fun!

Tired of asking questions and provoking thought only to hear crickets? The Catchbox also helps encourage people to take part and share ideas. So get the right tool for the job – get Catchbox!

The Catchbox is now available for rent at CitiView Audio Visual. Give us a call today at 212-632-5196 to learn how to change your presentations for the better!

For High Resolution Audio, Does The Format Really Matter?

Jun 08, 2015

MP3, FLAC, WAV. does it really make a difference? When it comes to listening to music, high-resolution audio is the way to go. But what’s more important, the quality of the gear used to record or the format?

Before we get into the details, it’s vital to point out that sound quality is determined by the quality of the gear used to record and the skill and expertise of the audio engineers. If you have bad equipment and the audio engineer doesn’t have much experience, chances are the audio won’t sound very good.

You can think of it all in terms of a high-definition television. Look at the difference between a sporting event or a movie broadcasted in HD and then compare it to a black and white film from the 60s. Even if you transferred the old movie to a 1080 Blu-ray, it wouldn’t make the film any clearer and the same holds true for audio.

When it comes down to it, high-resolution audio files are more expensive than standard definition files, so is it worth it? There are a few things to consider before making a decision:

  • Do you have high quality speakers or headphones?
  • Is the recording good enough to benefit from high resolution mastering?
  • Will the audience or listeners be able to tell the difference?

At CitiView Audio Visual, our expert audio engineers are highly skilled and have years of experience and training. We know exactly how to make your event sound spectacular and reach your entire audience so give us a call today at 212-632-5196 to learn more!

How To Choose A Projection Screen

Jul 02, 2015

Size. Aspect ratio. Material. There’s a lot more to a projection screen than you may have thought and they can be the most vital part of a visual presentation. With so many options to choose from it can make your decision seem nearly impossible, but if you stick to these basic guidelines you’ll be able to put on a crystal clear display for your audience.

Consider The Size

Before you go ahead and rent a projection screen for your event, you need to consider the size of the room it’s going to be in and how many people will be focusing their eyes on the screen. Projectors create a limited amount of light and as you increase the image size, you decrease the overall brightness. At CitiView, we are stocked with projection screens ranging from 5ft. to 20ft. wide so we can accommodate just about any size room.

Width of the Screen vs. Height

Another important piece of the puzzle is the aspect ratio, or the proportions between the width of the screen and its height. Most projectors come equipped with a 16×9 display meaning a 16-foot-wide screen should be 9 feet tall. However, your screen doesn’t have to be 16×9 just because the projector is. There are plenty of ways you can adjust the projector to fill the screen.

Material

All projection screens are made from the same material, right? Wrong. Most basic screens are made from a smooth, vinyl material but there are also perforated and woven screens available. It’s a good idea to speak with the venue to find out what kind of lighting is used in the room because this will affect how the images show up on the screen’s material.
